On Sunday, October 12, Professor Anita Piovano, author of the book "Giovanni Maria Borri, Painter (1811-1876). The Context - the Man - the Artist," will present it at Palazzo Traversa (4:00 PM). This will be an opportunity to showcase the fruits of her years of study and research, which have culminated in the creation of this work. The artist from Sommariva Bosco (two of whose paintings are on display in the Palazzo Traversa Museum) is outlined within the historical and geographical context of his origins, detailing his family background and retracing the key stages of his life and artistic career, beginning with his training at the Accademia Albertina in Turin, and highlighting his participation in exhibitions organized by the Turin Society for the Promotion of Fine Arts. The essay is accompanied by extensive and detailed photographic documentation of Borri's works, ranging from religious subjects to portraits and still lifes. The projection of the images composing the iconographic apparatus will accompany the presentation, facilitating knowledge and understanding of his artistic journey in its many facets.
